This zinc plaque example shows a plaque engraved with an aged finish we manufactured for Long Barn to match their natural-style products.

The engraving was done into a 1.5mm thick zinc sheet. The engraved area was patina-aged to a black finish, and the rest of the plaque was given a light patina finish.

Following patina, several coats of clear lacquer were applied to seal the finish.

The aged zinc’s muted grey tones blend nicely with the pastel colours in the background.

A fabricated zinc sign panel specially manufactured for Creattiva.

We began by engraving the TCC text and logo onto a zinc sheet to create this zinc sign. The sheet was then cut to size and shaped into an angled panel using our CNC press brake machine. After fabrication, the engraved sections were filled with yellow enamel.

The final process in creating this zinc sign was applying a rustic, dark, aged patina when the enamel was dry.

Zinc plaques and signs are not commonplace compared to brass and copper plaques. Zinc is a rustic metal by nature, and patinas can be done in shades of grey through to black, like the old black-and-white TV days.

If required, enamels can be used to add colour and accents to the engraved lettering, like the Creattiva and English Gardens signs shown above.

We have zinc sheets up to 3 meters long by 1.1 meters wide, so there is plenty of scope for large zinc signs.

These letters for The Dog House were cut from real zinc sheet metal 1.5mm thick. After manufacture, our patina studio applied a dark, aged finish. The customer supplied a text file of the letters for us to work with.
