Copper Sheet Metal

Copper sheet metal is versatile with unique properties and excellent corrosion resistance that make it useful for many applications. Sheets can be easily formed into complex shapes, and when used outdoors, over time it patinas through shades of brown and ends with a natural greenish patina. Hammered copper sheet metal has regained popularity for interior designs and table tops.

Grade C106 copper is a 99.9% pure general-purpose copper renowned for its excellent properties in various applications. This phosphorus-deoxidized copper exhibits strong welding and brazing characteristics, although it has slightly reduced electrical conductivity due to the deoxidation process. C106 is particularly effective in chemical environments, showcasing remarkable corrosion resistance. Its toughness, malleability, and ductility allow it to perform exceptionally in cold working operations like bending, riveting, soldering, and brazing, making it a valuable choice in general engineering.

Grade C103 copper is another high-quality variant that maintains 99.9% purity. As an oxygen-free high-conductivity electrical copper, it is primarily utilized in electrical applications such as bus bars, where optimal conductivity is crucial. C103 is prized for its performance in complex electrical systems, ensuring minimal resistance.

Applications

Huge Range of Copper Sheet Metal Products

  • Hospitality: Copper sheeting can be used in restaurant interiors, on bartops and tabletops, work surfaces, splashbacks, trims, push plates and kick plates.
  • Commercial: Reception desks, feature wall panels, display counters
  • Alloys: Copper alloys like brass and bronze can be used alongside copper or stand-alone.
  • Residential: Wide range of uses from kitchen cupboard doors and cooker hoods to wall art and table tops, dining table tops, and kitchen splashbacks.
  • Signage: copper signs, especially with an aged patina finish.
  • Health: Copper has natural antimicrobial properties. Bacteria growth on the sheet’s surface is greatly slowed, and there is a markedly lower population density than on traditional metals like stainless steel. This makes copper an additional defence against infections where touch surfaces are involved. See our article on antimicrobial copper.
  • Building: Wall cladding, guttering and roofs are typical outdoor uses for copper sheet metal.

Metal Sheets Ltd supplied natural copper sheets for prop making in the Hammer House of Horror film The Quiet Ones, a sequel to The Woman in Black.
