To keep your polished brass and copper mirrors in pristine condition, follow these essential care tips:

✅ Regular Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth (high-quality edgeless microfiber cloth) with a mild metal polish. For light tarnish, Bar Keepers Friend Spray works well. For heavier tarnish, we recommend Bar Keepers Friend Cream. After application, polish the surface with a clean, dry cloth to remove any residues and achieve a gleaming finish. Applying Renaissance Wax at this stage will help extend the time between maintenance.

Brasso metal polish is another well-known product that also provides excellent results.

Regular maintenance will enhance the quality of the mirror finish, and any residual grain on the sheet will gradually fade over time.

✅ Avoid Abrasives: Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges, as they can scratch or damage the polished surface.

✅ Prevent Tarnishing: Brass and copper naturally develop a patina over time. We have tested various protective waxes and found that Renaissance Wax leaves an almost invisible film that effectively resists tarnishing.

Applying a protective lacquer is another option, but we do not recommend it since there is no key for the lacquer to bond to. Nanotechnology lacquers are another possibility, but we do not yet have sufficient data on their performance.

✅ Indoor Use Recommended: While polished brass and copper mirrors can be used outdoors, maintenance requirements may increase depending on weather conditions. If you prefer a natural patina and a more rustic look, then no additional treatment is necessary.

Tip: If you use a polished metal mirror outside, after a time, the surface could acquire a gritty, grimey film. Wash this down with a water hose before repolishing it to prevent scratching. This tip also applies to polished stainless steel mirrors
