Naturally, bright zinc sheeting installed on roofs develops a light grey patina within 6 months to 2 years, depending on environmental factors. This patina effectively reduces the corrosion rate to approximately 1 micron of metal per year, meaning a 0.8mm thick zinc can last around 80 years.

Zinc cladding and flashings are increasingly preferred over lead flashings as they are about 40% lighter for the same thickness. With a scrap price at approximately 50% less than lead, there is significantly less incentive for theft. We also stock pre-weathered zinc sheets, allowing you to avoid the wait for natural aging.

All our zinc is of European origin to specification EN988 using 99.5% pure zinc and is suitable for roofing and facades.

Our zinc is also suitable for printing, etching and stencil making.
The density of zinc is 7.2 so it is just less than steel at 7.8

Applications

Huge Range of Zinc Sheet Products.

Zinc sheeting can be supplied in an artificial pre-weathered finish, (Quartz), it is a uniform colour. We can also offer sheet which has been hand patinated by our own craftsmen. This produces an appealing weathered/distressed finish. Each sheet processed will be different. This finish can also be used outdoors where it will continue to age or it can be treated with Bees Wax and used indoors as a feature.

We manufacture:

Kitchens: can be used as an alternative to stainless steel for kitchen backsplashes. It can also be used for doors and drawers, cooker hoods, worktops and counter tops.
Roofing: Zinc and copper sheet are metals traditionally used to make weather cocks and weather vanes. Strips can be used on roofs to inhibit the growth of moss and algae, we sell zinc sheeting for roofing and other applications, sheets upto 3m long and coils 15m
External: Zinc is an ideal metal for manufacturing building finals and outdoor artwork.

Metal Sheets Ltd provided over a tonne of natural zinc sheet cut to size for Elementary Productions to be used for the creation of sets in Sherlock Holmes 2, it was used for wall cladding, floors & roof of buildings, such that after patination it would achieve the period look. The film Heart of the Sea has used our sheet in scene creations.

Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc has also included our table tops in his restaurants, Metal Sheets have manufactured many zinc clad table tops for Mr Blanc.
