Zinc Worktops - All Bespoke

Welcome to Metal Sheets Ltd! With over a decade of expertise in crafting zinc worktops for kitchens, we have successfully completed hundreds of stunning installations. From cozy residential spaces to large-scale commercial projects, we provide tailored solutions to suit any need. Our zinc-clad worktops effortlessly blend rustic charm with industrial style, making them the perfect addition to any kitchen.

Zinc Worktop Design

When it comes to designing your zinc worktop, you’ll find a plethora of options to consider, starting with the overall size you desire.

We offer thickness choices, with standard options of 3cm and 4cm, but we can also provide custom thicknesses up to 100mm. For thicker surfaces, we begin with a 3cm base and then build the edges up to the desired thickness.

Next, you’ll want to choose an edge profile. A square edge is our standard option, but for a more distinctive look, consider the bullnose edge, which is slightly more expensive.

Additional features, such as an integrated zinc sink or an upstand for walls, can also be incorporated into your design.

With so many factors to consider, feel free to reach out to us to discuss your options further!

High Quality Materials

The zinc sheets we use to clad all worktops for zinc kitchens  are sourced from the highest quality European mills, ensuring superior dimensional tolerances and excellent surface aesthetics.

For our timber work, worktops typically measure 4cm thick and are crafted using high quality MR MDF with a Birch Ply alternative. Our zinc sheet sizes of 300cm x 110cm and 250cm x 125cm allow us to create most worktops without any visible joints. If you opt for an extra-wide design, we will join the pieces underneath using worktop bolts.

Zinc Worktop Style

Finally, let’s discuss the finish and any additional details. Are you envisioning a light or dark patina? Would you like to incorporate studded embellishments around the edges?

It’s important to note that over time, patina aged zinc will evolve, developing unique characteristics that reflect its work environment.

While we do offer lacquering options, keep in mind that a heavily used worktop may require regular maintenance. However, if it’s a display surface, you shouldn’t encounter any issues. Cupboard doors, on the other hand, generally handle lacquer quite well.

Zinc Worktop Maintenance

Caring for your zinc worktop is quite simple. Just use a microfiber cloth and warm, soapy water to wipe down the surfaces. After cleaning, dry them with a clean cloth to prevent water spots.

Unlacquered worktops usually come with a beeswax finish, which not only seals the surface but also helps to moderate further patina development. If needed, you can reapply the wax after cleaning.

Lacquered worktops can be maintained using the same cleaning method as the zinc.

For those interested in purchasing a patina-finished zinc splashback, we typically apply a lacquer coating to enhance durability and preserve its aesthetic appeal.
