Sink Materials

At Metal Sheets Ltd, we are committed to quality, sourcing only the finest materials for our copper sinks. Our premium copper sheets are imported directly from reputable German mills, guaranteeing that you receive some of the highest quality copper available worldwide. We utilize 1.5mm and 2mm thick copper for the construction of our sinks. Our advanced machinery ensures precise dimensional tolerances, and we maintain stock of brass sheets for constructing sinks up to 2.5 meters long

Sink Fabrication

At Metal Sheets Ltd, we specialise in the fabrication of non-ferrous metals, maintaining a diverse inventory of copper sheets, brass, zinc, and pewter sheets. Our skilled craftsmen are adept at handling these soft metals, ensuring meticulous care during the fabrication process. Our cutting, bending, and pressing machinery are all computer controlled, and we have the latest TIG welding machinery. This allows us to achieve the highest levels of accuracy and consistency.
Our copper sheets are cut using laser or guillotine techniques, ensuring precision in every copper kitchen sink we build.

This image is another of our creations, a bespoke slimline copper worktop to clients design. Note the bowl is round, (read our article on metal spinning for enlightenment), round bowls are a less commom feature, indeed the worktop itself is quite unique being so narrow. The copper is finished in its natural form.

Sink Finishing

After fabrication, our copper sinks move on to the finishing department. Here, we meticulously clean the welded joints and blend all components of the sink to create a seamless appearance. The final product features a beautiful satin finish.

It’s important to note that natural copper will eventually develop a patina, a normal process that results in a graceful aging through various shades of brown. Some clients prefer to start their copper worktops and sinks with an aged patina for an instant vintage look.

This is a quite large copper counter that we made to clients instructions, it has two similar sized rectangulat integrated sinks. The finsh is natural copper.

Sink Maintenance

Caring for a natural copper kitchen sink is essential to maintain its beauty and longevity.
Cleaning equipment consists of soft cloths, microfiber are good, warm water and mild detergent.
Do not use any abrasive cleaners.
After washing use a clean dry cloth to dry any remaining water to avoid water spots.

To moderate the rate that the copper acquires patina you can apply beeswax, this also hels repell water.

Information & Inspiration on Sinks

Here at MSL we specialise in copper, brass and zinc products and kitchen decor, besides copper sinks we can help you design your whole kitchen themed around the metal of your choice. If you are looking at the warm tones of copper throughout your kitchen consider a copper island or a copper worktop with an integrated copper sink. Behind your sink you could install a beautiful aged copper splasback.  Brass is currently very fashionable, have a look around our brass products and brass kitchens page for inspiration, a change of colour to hues of yellow, gold and shades of brown.

For a change of theme, this picture is of a Belfast style brass sink, quite individualised with two bowls. Still rustic industrial but not copper.

We have a gallery on Flickr dedicated to Bespoke Kitchen Sinks which you should find interesting in your design journey.
