Zinc Kitchens

Welcome to Metal Sheets Ltd! With over a decade of experience in crafting Zinc Kitchens, we have successfully completed more than 100 projects. Our diverse portfolio ranges from small residential installations to large-scale projects in collaboration with Stuart Holt of Javelin Block, who specialises in redeveloping historic factories in Birmingham's Jewelry Quarter. We expertly clad entire kitchens in zinc, enhancing their rustic charm to perfectly complement an industrial aesthetic.

Zinc Kitchen Design

Zinc adds a striking industrial aesthetic to any space. In the accompanying image, you can see how it complements the raw brickwork and expansive factory-style window, perfectly harmonizing with the unique rustic patina aged finish of the zinc.

At Metal Sheets Ltd, we collaborate closely with designers and kitchen fitters to bring your dream kitchen to life. Projects like these involve careful consideration of various elements, such as hinge details. For optimal durability, we recommend using heavy-duty hinges or installing two hinges at the top of larger doors to accommodate the added weight of the zinc. All these details are meticulously discussed with your kitchen maker during the planning phase.

This kitchen, like others featured on this page, is fully clad in zinc, with every panel, door, and worktop showcasing its stunning, cohesive design.

High Quality Materials

The zinc sheets we use to clad kitchen elements are sourced from the highest quality European mills, ensuring superior dimensional tolerances and excellent surface aesthetics.

For our timber work, worktops typically measure 40mm thick and are crafted from MRMDF. Our zinc sheet sizes of 3m x 1.1m and 2.5m x 1.25m allow us to create most worktops without any visible joints. If you opt for an extra-wide design, we will join the pieces underneath using worktop bolts for a seamless finish. Additionally, we can collaborate with reputable proprietary brands for cupboard doors, though this will need to be discussed during the design phase. If you choose a bespoke kitchen manufacturer, we are more than happy to coordinate with them on specifications to ensure a perfect fit.

Zinc Kitchen Style

You have the flexibility to choose how much of your kitchen you want to clad in zinc. In the featured image, the breakfast bar displays zinc only on its front panels, showcasing a light patina finish. This subtle coloration harmonizes beautifully with the overall kitchen design.

We can customize the patina to fit your vision, ranging from light to dark, and we can adjust the rustic appearance to your preference on a case-by-case basis. This is an important aspect to discuss in the design stage, where we can create samples to ensure the final look aligns perfectly with your style.

Zinc Kitchen Manufacture

At Metal Sheets Ltd, we focus on the fabrication of non-ferrous metals, offering a diverse inventory that includes copper, brass, zinc, and pewter sheets. Our expert craftsmen are experienced in working with these soft metals, guaranteeing meticulous attention to detail throughout the fabrication process. Equipped with CNC-controlled machinery for cutting, bending, and pressing, we ensure the highest levels of accuracy and consistency in our products.

Zinc Kitchen Maintenance

Maintaining your zinc kitchen is quite straightforward. Simply use a microfiber cloth to wipe down surfaces with warm, soapy water. After cleaning, dry the surfaces with a clean, dry cloth to prevent water spots.

Zinc kitchens typically come without a lacquer finish, allowing the material to age naturally and develop a charming patina that enhances the industrial aesthetic. If you prefer to preserve the appearance of certain elements, please note that lacquer finishes require maintenance over time, especially on worktops, depending on the level of wear and tear. We can discuss your preferences during the design stage.

For those interested in a patina-finished zinc splashback, we usually apply a lacquer coating to ensure durability and maintain its visual appeal.
