Bronze Sheet

Metal Sheets Ltd are trusted suppliers of semi-bright natural bronze sheet metal, available in a range of sizes to suit both commercial and domestic applications. This material offers a distinctive reddish-brown hue that closely resembles copper, especially in its freshly milled state.

Unlike the greenish or brown patina often associated with bronze statues and outdoor architectural features, our bronze sheets are supplied in their natural, unaged condition. The aged appearance commonly linked to bronze metal sheets only develops over time through prolonged exposure to the elements, which causes the surface to oxidise and take on a weathered finish. This makes our bronze sheet metal ideal for interior use or where a bright, clean bronze appearance is preferred.

We are now pleased to offer a laser cutting service for both large-scale and smaller, bespoke projects, ensuring precise results and clean edges regardless of the complexity or quantity of your requirements.

Bronze Sheet Metal - The product

We specialise in supplying semi-bright natural bronze sheet metal, suitable for a wide range of applications. This particular finish offers a clean, polished appearance and shares a striking resemblance to copper in colour. In fact, newly produced bronze sheets exhibit a hue so similar to high-quality copper that distinguishing between the two can be challenging without close inspection, especially for those without technical training.

While many associate bronze with the darker, weathered tones often seen on outdoor statues and architectural elements, that aged patina is a result of natural oxidation that occurs over time when bronze metal s

Bronze Sheet Tech Spec

  • We supply bronze sheet metal made from PB102 phosphor bronze, a high-quality alloy composed primarily of copper, with 4.5% to 5.5% tin, up to 0.4% phosphorus, and trace amounts of other elements. This specific alloy is known for its excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and wear performance, making it highly suitable for engineering and industrial applications.

PB102 bronze sheets are particularly well suited to fabrication processes and are compatible with TIG welding, offering a reliable option for constructing precision components. The material’s mechanical properties also make it ideal for forming and machining, while maintaining a clean, bright surface finish in its natural state.

Our standard bronze metal sheets are supplied in a semi-bright natural mill finish, offering a subtle sheen that closely resembles copper. These sheets are ideal for customers who require a raw but refined appearance, whether for practical or decorative use.

Applications

Bronze sheet metal has a remarkably wide range of applications across various industries, thanks to its combination of durability, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appeal. Our bronze metal sheets are used in both functional and decorative contexts, offering long-lasting performance whether indoors or out.

Marine: Bronze sheets are ideal for use in marine environments due to their natural resistance to seawater corrosion. Components such as bearings, propellers, and fasteners benefit from the metal’s ability to withstand saltwater exposure over time.
Aircraft: Although less common today, bronze was historically used in aircraft manufacturing for its strength and fatigue resistance. It continues to be employed in specialist components where wear resistance is required.
Chemical: In chemical processing and storage applications, bronze metal sheets are favoured for their resistance to many corrosive agents. They are used in fittings, seals, and other components exposed to reactive substances.
Engineering: Phosphor bronze is widely used in general engineering applications, particularly for the manufacture of gears, bearings, and bushes. Its toughness, wear resistance, and machinability make it well suited to these roles.
Hospitality: While bronze sheet metal is more expensive than copper, it is occasionally used in high-end interiors for bar tops, table tops, and decorative wall panels. Over time, bronze develops a characterful patina that adds depth and warmth to hospitality settings.

Signage: Our bronze sheets are frequently chosen for outdoor plaques, memorials, and architectural signage. As the metal naturally ages in the open air, it develops a weathered patina that enhances its visual impact and lends an air of permanence.
Design features:Designers and architects use bronze sheets to create impactful external design elements that evolve in appearance over time. When exposed to the elements, bronze gradually patinates, adding texture and character to the finished design.
