Huge Range of Zinc Sheet Products

Zinc sheet metal is available in natural, pre-weathered and hand-aged finishes.
Pre-weathered zinc (often referred to as Quartz) provides a smooth, uniform grey tone,
while our in-house patination service produces distinctive weathered or distressed finishes.
Each hand-finished sheet is unique. These patinas can be used outdoors, where they will continue to evolve naturally,
or finished with beeswax for interior design applications.

Film and Hospitality Clients

Metal Sheets Ltd supplied over 1 tonne of zinc to Elementary Productions for
Sherlock Holmes 2, where it was hand-patinated and used across floors, roofs and set cladding.
We have also produced zinc table tops for Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc’s restaurants.

Zinc Roofing Sheets

Zinc roofing sheets remain a trusted choice for long-lasting architectural roof systems.
Manufactured to EN988 specification, they offer excellent durability, weather resistance and a naturally
self-healing patina that forms over time. This protective zinc carbonate layer significantly extends service life,
making zinc suitable for traditional standing seam roofs, heritage refurbishments, contemporary façades and high-performance cladding systems.

We supply full sheets, coils and custom-cut roofing panels with optional pre-weathered or hand-aged finishes
to suit both modern and period designs.

Zinc is a durable, evolving metal that offers exceptional longevity and a refined aesthetic.
Whether for classic rooftops or contemporary interiors, Metal Sheets Ltd provides zinc sheet metal with the skill,
precision and flexibility to suit your project.

Zinc sheet metal is used far beyond traditional roofing. While EN988 zinc is a trusted material for standing seam roofs and façade systems, its workability, clean appearance and naturally developing patina make it equally popular with fabricators, interior designers, furniture makers and metalworkers. From bespoke bar tops and interior panels to architectural cladding and precision-cut components, zinc offers reliability, longevity and impressive versatility across commercial, residential and creative projects.

Frequently Asked Questions – Zinc Sheet Metal

What is zinc sheet metal used for?

Zinc sheet metal is widely used for roofing, façades, cladding, bar tops, table tops, kitchens, planters, signage and interior features.
It is valued for its durability, versatility, and the attractive patina it develops over time.

What grade of zinc do you supply?

We supply zinc sheet to the EN988 specification, made from 99.5% pure zinc alloyed with titanium for improved strength and formability.
This makes it ideal for architectural roofing, cladding, fabrication and interior design.

How thick are your zinc sheets?

Standard zinc sheet thicknesses range from 0.8 mm up to 1.5 mm, with popular sheet sizes including 3000 × 1100 mm and 2500 × 1250 mm.
For roofing, 0.8 mm is the industry standard.

How long does zinc take to develop a patina?

Natural zinc develops a soft grey patina within 6 months to 2 years, depending on weather conditions.
This patina protects the surface and reduces corrosion to around 1 micron per year.

What is pre-weathered zinc?

Pre-weathered zinc is treated to replicate the natural patina that develops outdoors. It provides a ready-aged, uniform finish on installation,
avoiding the initial bright phase of natural zinc.

Can zinc sheet metal be laser cut?

Yes. Zinc sheets can be guillotine cut, CNC routed and precision laser cut for panels, decorative shapes, architectural elements and signage.
DXF or PDF files are accepted for bespoke profiling.

Is zinc suitable for kitchens, bar tops and interior design?

Absolutely. Zinc is popular for kitchen worktops, counters, splashbacks, bar tops and feature walls.
It develops a lived-in patina that adds warmth and character, and can be hand-aged or waxed for interior use.

Is zinc suitable for roofing?

Yes. Zinc roofing sheets are widely used for standing seam roofs, façades and architectural cladding.
Zinc offers exceptional lifespan, low maintenance requirements, and a self-healing patina, making it one of the most durable roofing metals available.

Does zinc rust like steel?

No. Zinc does not rust in the same way as mild steel. Instead, it forms a protective zinc carbonate layer that prevents deeper corrosion
and extends lifespan significantly.

How heavy is zinc compared to other metals?

Zinc has a density of 7.2 g/cm³ — slightly lighter than steel (7.8) and far lighter than lead.
Its lower scrap value also makes it less attractive to thieves than other roofing metals.

Do you offer patinated or aged zinc sheets?

Yes — we supply natural zinc, pre-weathered zinc and custom aged patina finishes, produced in-house.
These can be supplied as full sheets, part sheets or fabricated components.

Do you provide zinc sheet samples?

Yes. Free zinc sheet samples are available for architects, designers and educational institutions.
To request samples, email sales@metalsheets.co.uk.

Do you deliver zinc sheets across the UK?

Yes — we offer nationwide and international delivery for full sheets, part sheets, roofing coils and fabricated zinc products.
