• Scope: Integration of rusted Corten steel in key interior decor features of the lower lift reveals.
• Design Concept

The primary goal was to create an interior that reflected the raw, industrial elements of Liverpool dock lands were built upon. Rusted Corten steel was chosen for its natural patina and ability to evoke a sense of history within a contemporary setting.

Implementation

• Feature lift reveals: Large, rusted Corten steel wall panels were installed as the main feature wall. The panel, pre-weathered to achieve the desired rust effect, was mounted securely with hidden fastenings. Two panels on each floor also served as signage to advertise the floor number prominently.
• Manufacture: The fabrication of these elevator reveals began with developing the metalwork drawings into flat sheets for laser cutting. The cut blanks were then folded to shape on our CNC press brake machine. The final stage was creating the rusted finish in our patina studio and applying clear lacquer to seal the finish.
