Aged copper splashbacks like the example shown are often specified for kitchens and commercial interiors where a softer, less reflective finish is required.

Copper also offers natural antimicrobial properties, making it a hygienic surface around food preparation and cooking areas. Copper splashbacks can be supplied with optional surface sealing to stabilise the appearance and simplify ongoing maintenance where required.
Different copper finishes can be specified at the point of manufacture, depending on reflectivity, surface texture, and maintenance expectations. For clients seeking a made-to-measure copper kitchen splashback manufactured to specification, copper remains a versatile and dependable choice.

Copper is particularly well suited to kitchen applications due to its natural antimicrobial properties and ability to withstand heat and moisture. Whether specified as a full-width splashback behind a hob or as a feature surface across a kitchen run, copper provides a practical and long-lasting solution.
We manufacture bespoke copper splashbacks as part of our copper kitchen fabrication services in a range of finishes, including natural, aged, antique and patina options, allowing you to match the splashback to both contemporary and traditional kitchen designs.

We work from customer measurements, templates, sketches, or technical drawings to ensure accurate fit and alignment. Fabrication is carried out in our UK workshop using laser cutting and computer-controlled press braking, allowing us to achieve clean edges, accurate cut-outs for sockets and switches, and consistent folded returns where required.
For installations requiring additional rigidity, copper splashbacks can be formed into tray sections and bonded to 9 mm moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, improving stability and simplifying installation. This approach is commonly specified for larger splashbacks or where wall conditions require additional support.
Where splashbacks are specified alongside other fabricated copper elements — such as copper worktops or as part of a full bespoke copper kitchen installation — we ensure consistent material thickness, detailing, and finish specification across all components.

Our fabrication process allows us to produce copper kitchen splashbacks in lengths of up to 3 metres in a single panel, reducing the need for joints and creating a clean, seamless appearance. This is particularly beneficial for larger kitchen runs and full-width splashback installations.
As a natural material, copper may exhibit slight variations in colour and tone between batches. This is an inherent characteristic of the material and contributes to the unique appearance of each splashback.

Natural and satin copper finishes retain the base surface of the copper sheet and offer a mid- to low-sheen appearance. These finishes may be supplied untreated or clear lacquered, depending on how much surface change is acceptable over time. Lacquering reduces marking and simplifies routine cleaning where a more stable appearance is required.
Aged and antique copper finishes are produced through controlled surface treatment and are supplied fully sealed as standard to stabilise the appearance and protect the surface during everyday use. These finishes are commonly specified where reduced reflectivity or tonal variation is preferred.
Blue and green patina finishes are created through accelerated oxidation processes and must be lacquered to preserve colour consistency and durability in kitchen environments. These finishes are typically specified for feature splashbacks where colour variation is part of the design brief.
Mirror-polished copper splashbacks provide a high-reflectivity option and are supplied ready for installation. As with all finishes, handling guidance and surface protection are provided to ensure the splashback performs as expected once installed.
Further technical information on copper surface treatments is available on our
patina sheet metal page, with additional finish reference examples shown on our copper finishes page.
Cleaning is straightforward for natural, aged, and satin copper splashbacks without a lacquer coating. Use a microfibre cloth with soapy water to gently clean the surface. Avoid harsh cleaning products, as they can disrupt the natural patina development. Applying beeswax is an effective solution if you’d like to slow down the patina process. We recommend Natural Creamy Beeswax by Flag Paints Ltd for the best results.
Maintenance is equally simple for lacquered finishes. Use a microfibre cloth dampened with soapy water to clean the surface, then dry

Mirror copper and hammered copper kitchen splashbacks can be polished with Brasso or a similar product. For an eco-friendly alternative, we recommend Bio-star, which provides excellent results while being kind to the environment.
When attaching copper products to walls, timber, or other surfaces using adhesives, it’s essential to follow some key guidelines:
Avoid silicones containing acetic acid, as these can react with copper. If you’re unsure, it’s best to avoid silicones altogether. We recommend using CT1 Adhesive Sealant or Bostik Simson MSR premium adhesive sealants, both of which are available from The Glue People.
We can include the recommended adhesives with your order upon request, ensuring you have everything required for a successful installation.

Every copper splashback is manufactured to order and installed in a wide range of kitchen styles, from contemporary to traditional layouts.
Yes, copper splashbacks are suitable behind hobs and cookers. Solid copper can withstand normal heat levels from gas, induction and electric cooking. For open-flame ranges, we recommend allowing a small clearance. Copper is commonly used in both residential and commercial kitchens due to its durability and heat resistance.
Cleaning a copper kitchen splashback is simple. Use a microfibre cloth with warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth. For natural or aged copper finishes, avoid harsh chemicals as these can affect the patina. Polished copper can be maintained with a copper-safe cleaner if required.
We manufacture bespoke copper splashbacks up to 3 metres in a single panel with no joints. Each splashback is made to measure and can include socket cut-outs, shaping, and bonded backing where required to suit your kitchen layout.
Yes, natural copper develops a patina over time, which gradually changes the colour and tone of the surface. This is a natural characteristic of copper. For a more consistent appearance, aged, antique or lacquered copper splashbacks can be specified to stabilise the finish.
We supply copper splashbacks in a range of finishes including natural, aged, antique, satin and blue or green patina. Each finish is selected at the point of manufacture depending on the desired appearance, reflectivity and maintenance requirements.
