Introduction to Beaten Copper Sheets

Before the sheets are expertly hammered, they go through a process with a specialist metal polisher. This ensures a brilliant mirror finish and the application of a protective peel-able plastic film. This film not only protects the sheet during hammering, but also guards against oxidation during storage.

Fabrication Note on hammered copper sheets

After the beating process, the sheets develop a curvature due to the stretching of the metal. To regain some flatness, the sheets are passed through a set of sheet metal rolls. While this improves flatness, there may still be some curvature. For larger fabrication areas, the sheets may need to be bonded to a timber substrate for complete flatness.
