Stainless Steel in Kitchen Design — Fabricated Worktops & Splashbacks | Metal Sheets Ltd
Stainless steel remains one of the most practical and widely specified materials for modern kitchen design — combining durability, hygiene, and a clean architectural finish. At Metal Sheets Ltd, we fabricate stainless steel worktops, splashbacks, and table tops to order in our UK workshop, supplying both residential and commercial projects.
This page outlines how stainless steel is specified across bespoke kitchen installations — from finish selection and cut-outs to fabrication methods and coordinated matching components.
Stainless Steel Worktops in Kitchen Design
Brushed (DP1) stainless steel is the preferred finish for kitchen worktops, offering a soft linear grain that helps reduce the visibility of marks while remaining easy to clean. We manufacture made-to-measure worktops with integrated or undermounted sinks, hob cut-outs, and folded edge details, allowing for clean, continuous runs up to 3 metres.

Stainless Steel Splashbacks
Stainless steel splashbacks provide a durable, heat-resistant surface that protects walls while visually linking appliances and worktops. We manufacture splashbacks with socket cut-outs, folded returns, radiused corners, and a choice of fixing methods including adhesive or screw fixing.
Both brushed (DP1) and 2B semi-bright finishes are available depending on the level of reflectivity and maintenance preference required.

Stainless Steel Table Tops for Kitchen & Dining Areas
For kitchen dining areas, cafés, and open-plan spaces, stainless steel table tops provide a durable and hygienic surface with a refined industrial aesthetic. Our boxed-edge construction includes TIG-welded corners and a bonded MDF core, ensuring rigidity with a clean underside for base fixing.

Specifying Stainless Steel for Kitchen Projects
Stainless steel is particularly suited to bespoke kitchen fabrication due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to be formed into precise components. When specifying stainless steel for kitchen use, key considerations include:
We work from CAD drawings, templates, or site measurements to ensure accurate fit and consistent detailing across all components.
Standard Stainless Steel Finishes
We offer two primary stainless steel finishes as standard — Brushed (DP1) and 2B semi-bright. Brushed stainless provides a soft satin grain suited to worktops, splashbacks, and table tops, while 2B offers a cleaner, more reflective finish often used for cost-efficient or less visible areas.

Brushed, 2B, and decorative stainless finishes — from practical satin surfaces to more reflective options.
Decorative & Architectural Stainless Finishes
For feature walls, counters, and design-led interiors, we can supply decorative stainless finishes including 5WL, 6WL, Canvas, and Cambridge patterns. These textured surfaces introduce depth and light reflection, making them suitable for hospitality interiors, commercial kitchens, and architectural installations.
We also supply burnished circle stainless steel, a swirl-patterned finish widely used in commercial kitchens and catering environments for its durability and ease of maintenance.
